CASEMAKER 2.2 RELEASE GOES LIVE WEDNESDAY WITH EXPANDED CONTENT
Casemaker’s 2.2 release is going live Wednesday, March 3. Featuring the same look and easy format, the new 2.2 also features some new and useful search functions and expanded content, including additions to the case law database (N.C. back to 1886 and 4th Circuit to 1879); simultaneous State and Federal search; footnotes linked within case law; new “Session Laws” book in the library; Section ranges shown within the General Statutes browse mode; and historical information at the end of each Section linked to passed legislation. 4ALL SERVICE DAY, WE THE PEOPLE FINALS HEADLINE BUSY FRIDAY

The phones will soon be ringing in Greenville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Wilmington, Asheville and Cary during the third annual 4ALL Statewide Service Day, scheduled Friday, March 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; click here for more. IN MEMORIAM
Joy Ammons Ciriano
of Burlington died Friday at the age of 45. A former prosecutor in Cumberland and Alamance counties, she served as executive director of Family Abuse Services for Alamance County and as president of the Alamance County Bar Association. She recently received the NCBA’s Centennial Award for outstanding community service.

FILING DEADLINE YIELDS CROWDED BALLOT, BUSY ELECTION SEASON

With no less than 11 candidates seeking a seat in the U.S. Senate and only one uncontested appellate judicial race, the 2010 election season promises to be a busy one in North Carolina with many candidates now setting their sites on the May 4 primary and a potential June 22 runoff. Prevailing U.S. Senate and appellate judicial candidates will join those who are already assured spots on the November ballot at the 2010 NCBA Annual Meeting, scheduled June 24-27 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. WILLS FOR HEROES SET FOR MARCH 27 IN GREENSBORO; VOLUNTEER NOW!
Like the well-oiled goodwill machine that it has become, the YLD Wills for Heroes Project is rolling steadily into spring with a program in Greensboro on Saturday, March 27, at the Public Safety Training Facility at 1510 North Church Street. Since 2007, Wills for Heroes has provided thousands of free estate planning documents for N.C. first responders through a dozen events such as this.
