New NCBA Board Members, Vice Presidents

The Nominations Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association has selected vice presidents and board members to serve on the NCBA Board of Governors in 2009-10 pending formal approval at the NCBA Annual Meeting, scheduled June 25-28 at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville.

The new president-elect of the NCBA will also be formally nominated and elected at the Annual Meeting, where John R. Wester of Charlotte will succeed Charles Becton of Durham as the 115th president of the NCBA. 

Nominated to serve one-year terms as vice presidents of the NCBA are Judge A. Thomas Small of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of N.C. in Raleigh; Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith of Yanceyville; District Court Judge Nancy E. Gordon of Durham; and Dean Blake Morant of the Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem.

Nominated to serve a two-year at large position as vice president of the NCBA is Albert R. Bell Jr. of Raleigh.

The nominees for the Board of Governors, who will be serving the first year of a three-year term, are Arnita M. Dula of Hickory, William B. Gwyn Jr. of Raleigh; Corie D. Pauling of Charlotte, Bradley N. Schulz of Smithfield, C. Thomas Steele Jr. of Burlington, Craig A. Taylor of Greensboro and Carlton F. Williamson of Whiteville.

The nominees will also serve on the Board of Directors of the NCBA Foundation.

L. Neal Ellis Jr. served as chair of the Nominations Committee, which included L. Lamar Armstrong Jr., Victor J. Boone, Richard T. Bowser, Michael A. Colombo, Terri L. Gardner, Julie Z. Griggs, Charles T. Hagan III, Jonathan R. Harkavy, Anna S. Mills, James W. Narron, Matthew W. Sawchak, Kimberly W. Sieredzki, Geraldine Sumter and Susan F. Vick.
