Tarek Azhari
|
The North Carolina Bar Association is pleased to announce that Tarek Azhari has
joined the bar center staff as director of the North Carolina Lawyers for
Entrepreneurs Assistance Program (NC LEAP). NC LEAP, which began providing
services to low-wealth entrepreneurs in June 2007, is the signature project of
the Business Law and Corporate Counsel sections.
Azhari came to work and hit the
ground running. A natural fit for the bar association, he states that he is
“committed to helping low-wealth, rural and minority entrepreneurs in need of
legal assistance across the state of North Carolina. I am excited about the
program, and I look forward to cultivating even more positive growth. Former
Director Milan Pham has laid such a solid foundation for the program, and I look
forward to working with her in her new role on the NC LEAP steering committee.”
Azhari, first familiar
with NC LEAP via his volunteer service to the program, comes to the
NCBA from Lenovo’s (United
States) legal department. A Pittsburgh
native who has lived in North Carolina since
high school, Azhari received his undergraduate degree from the
University of Virginia and is a 2004 graduate of the JD/MBA program at the University
of Richmond.

Jacquelyn Terrell
|
Jacquelyn Terrell, an NCBA veteran of 20 years, takes the helm of NCBA Sections
& Divisions as director effective July 1, 2009. Terrell, a native of Durham
and ECU alumna, began service to the bar center working for the department in
1989.
An integral
and energetic part of the bar association team, Terrell is “both honored and
excited to continue the tradition of excellence that has become expected of us
[Sections & Divisions]. I am delighted, also, to continue working with Jane
as she begins a new phase in her career at the NCBA.”
Former
director Jane Weathers, who has served the department since 1985, will remain at
the NCBA as one of the department’s team of three invaluable assistant
directors. Weathers has dedicated much of her career to the NCBA, and made the
decision to step down from the directorship to enjoy more personal time.
Weathers and Terrell, who have operated seamlessly together throughout their respective careers at the NCBA, look forward to both a positive and mutually
rewarding future in Sections and Divisions.
