Pham Departing: NC LEAP Director Search Opens
Article Date: Saturday, April 11, 2009

Milan Pham, the founding director of NC LEAP, is leaving the
N.C. Bar Center to enter private practice with
NicholsonPham in Durham.
But not so fast! Pham will continue to work for NC LEAP on a
part-time basis during the transition period to ensure continuity
of this program by working closely with the new director.
Pham has directed the North Carolina Lawyers for Entrepreneurs
Assistance Program since its inception in 2007. This hugely
successful NCBA Foundation pro bono program links volunteer
attorneys with low wealth, rural and minority entrepreneurs in need
of legal assistance.
"NC LEAP has provided me with an opportunity for deep
professional and personal growth," Pham stated. "During this
period, I have met some of the most amazing attorneys, men and
women who exemplify my understanding of what our profession has
been and should, once again, be; a profession rooted in service to
the public.
"I am grateful to NC LEAP's Steering Committee, the Business
Law, Corporate Counsel and Intellectual Property sections for the
opportunity to help NC LEAP grow."
The signature project of the NCBA's Business Law, Corporate
Counsel and Intellectual Property Law sections, NC LEAP made its
debut in June 2007 in Greensboro. Since then, the program has been
implemented in all of North Carolina's 100 counties.
The success of NC LEAP has been bolstered by an extensive
fund-raising campaign that preceded its launch and an outpouring of
volunteer attorneys who work directly with low-income
entrepreneurs.
The search for a new NC LEAP director is under way and the
position is posted on the NCBA Web site under the headings of About
the NCBA > Employment. Click
