YLD's First Project Grace Successful
Article Date: Saturday, October 31, 2009
Project Grace, a series of statewide workshops that utilizes public health
services to provide health care powers of attorney, living wills and HIPAA forms
to underprivileged North Carolinians, is off to an awesome start.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Law & Aging Committee of the North Carolina Bar
Association's Young Lawyers Division sponsored its first Project Grace free
legal clinic at the Downtown Health Plaza in
Winston-Salem.
Approximately 20 volunteers served over 85 individuals
including many elderly and those utilizing government healthcare services. There
was amazing turnout despite the inclement weather and the holiday
weekend.
Volunteers found the clinic very rewarding and uplifting while
participants seemed to find the services valuable and enjoyed their interaction
with the NCBA volunteers.
