NCBA Targets Faster Access To Court Opinions
Article Date: Tuesday, October 12, 2010
The North Carolina Bar Association is moving closer to providing its members with immediate notification when N.C. Supreme Court and N.C. Court of Appeals opinions are posted on the AOC website, http://www.aoc.state.nc.us/www/public/html/opinions.htm.
The new member service is a joint effort between the NCBA's Technology Advisory Committee and Christie Cameron, Clerk of the Supreme Court and an NCBA member.
The short-term goal of this endeavor is to provide the NCBA with manual notifications, including projected dates when opinions will be posted, after which members will be notified via e-bar. The NCBA will also alert Casemaker so as to make new Supreme Court and Court of Appeals opinions immediately accessible via the online legal research tool.
Today marked the first time members have been alerted to this new information in e-bar. The long-term goal is to provide members with automated notification.
