Women In Public Office Events Slated Thursday and Friday

Article Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2010

The public is invited to attend a reception and panel presentation promoting women in public office that will take place on Thursday evening, Oct. 21, from 6:30-8:30 at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh. Dean Melissa Essary of the Campbell University School of Law will moderate a panel comprised of Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson, Judge Donna Stroud, Judge Betsy McCrodden and N.C. Rep. Sarah Stevens.

The event is being held in conjunction with “Rising to the Challenge – Women in Public Office,” a continuing legal education program of the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation taking place the following day. In addition to legal professionals, businesswomen and female college and high school students are urged to attend Thursday’s program.

There is no charge to attend the Thursday evening reception but reservations are appreciated. Contact Isis Williams at the N.C. Bar Center, iwilliams@ncbar.org or 677-0561. The program has been planned by the NCBA Women in the Profession Committee in cooperation with the N.C. Center for Women in Public Service.

The “Rising to the Challenge – Women in Public Office” CLE and workshop that follows on Friday in Raleigh will be held at the N.C. Judicial Center (the AOC Building). Click here for details.
