US Marine Corps Reserve, Ward Black Law Host Toys for Tots 2011 Kick Off Campaign

Summary Date: Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Written By: Patrick Norris

The US Marine Corps and NCBA Past-President Janet Ward Black's firm, Ward Black Law, are teaming up for their 4th consecutive year on December 1st for the 2011 Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots kick-off campaign, "Operation Santa."  The public is invited to participate in the event and make Christmas brighter for children who might otherwise not receive a gift for Christmas.

The Toys for Tots drive kickoff will be held at the corner of West Wendover Avenue and Virginia Street in Greensboro outside Ward Black Law from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec.1, 2011. The public is invited to stop by and donate new, unwrapped gifts for children ages from infant to 12-years-old that will be distributed to needy children by the Marines in the Triad area prior to Christmas. Cash or checks payable to Toys for Tots will also be accepted.

The event will be a fun-filled day for all who participate.

  • Marines in uniform will be present to greet visitors and collect donated toys and monetary donations for Toys for Tots.  Come thank a Marine for serving our country.
  • Stylists from Great Clips in Greensboro will offer free haircuts on site for a minimum $5 donation to Toys for Tots.  If you don't have time for a haircut that day, coupons for a discounted cut will be given away with each donation.
  • Free Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Chick-Fil-A biscuits will be offered in the morning for toy or monetary donations.
  • Grill 4 God will be on site preparing BBQ chicken dinners for all donations between the hours of 11am and 1:00pm.  Golden Corral will offer the side dishes to-go along with the chicken.
  • Coke will provide its products to everyone who stops by all day at the Ward Black Law office.
  • WTQR radio will be providing music in the Ward Black Law parking lot all day.  Meet DJ's Jeff Roper between noon and 2:00 and Angie Ward between 4:00 and 6:00!
  • The Marine Hummer will be on site.
  • Santa Claus will drop in during the afternoon between 1:00 and 6:00 to visit with the kids who accompany their parents with a donation to Toys for Tots.
  • From 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm Ward Black Law will have a Kidszone tent with a magician, balloon animals, and face-painting.
  • The Out of the Garden Band and the Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge Men's Choir will offer up Christmas music between 1:00 and 3:00.
  • The Greensboro Fire Department will have one of their fire trucks for the big kids and little kids to check out during the event.
  • Additional special guests will make appearances throughout the day.

Come join Ward Black Law and the Marines for a fun and rewarding day.

"Toys for Tots is really a double blessing," said Janet Ward Black, Greensboro attorney and former president of the North Carolina Bar Association. "Donors are not only reaching out to needy families in our community, but they're also supporting the men and women in our military. It will be a great day!"

Donations can be dropped off at Ward Black Law through December 16.
