Patron Campaign FAQs

Q. What is a Patron?
A. Any member of the North Carolina Bar Association or friend of the NCBA Foundation who contributes $100 or more to the annual Patron Campaign.
| Q. How are Patron funds used?
A. Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) which connected 58,000 people with lawyers to solve their legal problems.
Law-related education (LRE) programs almost 15,000 participating students and teacher statewide.
4All Initiative and the Statewide Service Day on 3-4-11 (8,000 NC citizens provided legal information by 400 volunteers lawyers on 3/5/10).
| Q. Are there giving levels for the Patron Campaign?
A. In response to the many larger gifts to the Patron Campaign, we recognize gifts at the following levels: Patron $100-$199, Bronze Patron $200-$349, Silver Patron $350-$499, Gold Patron $500-$999; Platinum Patron $1,000-$2,499 and Diamond Patron $2,500 or more.
| Q. How are Patrons recognized?
A. The annual Patron Campaign Honor Roll is distributed every fall to members of the North Carolina Bar Association. The Honor Roll lists all Patrons for the prior year, their cumulative years of supporting the Patron Campaign, and their level of giving – Patron, Bronze Patron, Silver Patron, Gold Patron, Platinum Patron or Diamond Patron.
| Q. How may I make my Patron contribution?
A. You can give online to the Patron Campaign at: http://www.ncbar.org/patrondonatenow by using your credit card or calling 1-800-662-7407 and asking for Tom Hull, Director of Development, or you can make your check payable to the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation and mail it to P. O. Box 3688, Cary, NC 27513.
| Q. Can I spread my payments to make a larger gift?
A. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Patrons can make a two-payment gift. For example, if a Bronze Patron makes an initial $100 credit card gift, we will debit your credit card for the additional $100 on June 1, 2011 as per your authorization.
| Q. How are Patron Campaign gifts recorded?
A. All Patron contributions received from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 will be credited to the 2010-11 Patron Campaign, which marks the 29th year for the Patron Campaign.
| Q. Is my Patron gift tax deductible?
A. YES! Since the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, all contributions received are tax deductible within the limits of the law.
