NCBA OBSERVING “4ALL” FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
The NCBA is observing a “4ALL” Fourth of July this year as it launches a yearlong campaign to improve access to legal services for North Carolina’s poor. The centerpiece of Janet Ward Black’s presidential agenda for 2007-08, the 4ALL launch is accompanied by the establishment of a new Web presence at www.4allnc.org and an array of new resources devoted to the four focal points of the 4ALL campaign: Educate, Legislate, Donate and Participate.

HICKORY LAWYER CHARLIE DIXON CONTRIBUTES $100,000 TO LANC FUND
The NCBA Foundation’s newly established Legal Aid of North Carolina Fund received a monumental shot in the arm recently when Hickory attorney Charles D. “Charlie” Dixon stepped forward to contribute $100,000. A 2003 General Practice Hall of Fame inductee, Dixon was recognized by the NCBA Board of Governors at last month’s Annual Meeting in Asheville. The LANC Fund, which includes a charitable contribution option on the current NCBA dues statement, has been established in conjunction with the NCBA’s “4ALL” initiative. CITIZEN LAWYERS ARE GONE, BUT THEY HAVEN’T BEEN FORGOTTEN
Citizen Lawyers commanded center stage at the recent NCBA Annual Meeting, not only in their presence at the General Session but also throughout the Grove Park Inn, where impressive posters denoted the contributions of each honored NCBA Citizen Lawyer. As a pleasant reminder to those who attended, and as a first look for those who didn’t, the posters have been replicated for display on the NCBA Web site and are accessible via the link below.
