Earlier this month, two more NCBA members, Melinda Haynie Crouch of Wilmington and David Thomas “Tom” Lambeth Jr. of Burlington, were named to the District Court bench. Access the link below for official releases on all four appointments.

LANC FUND FOSTERS COOPERATION
The NCBA Foundation Endowment LANC Fund, which benefits Legal Aid of North Carolina, recently received an unprecedented contribution from the N.C. Academy of Trial Lawyers to help launch the LANC Fund. The LANC Fund establishes a new revenue stream for LANC from the Endowment to help buffet the highs and lows of other funding sources. The LANC Fund is a component of NCBA President Janet Ward Black’s 4ALL initiative under the Donate heading. More than 250 lawyers and law firms have contributed over $150,000 since June. But just as electronic discovery has changed the rules of document production, it has also changed how the materials are used when questioning and preparing witnesses. Houston trial lawyer David Bissinger is on the case and shares his ideas on preparing for witness questioning in a Texas Lawyer article accessible via the link below.
