LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC SERVICE LAWYERS OK'D The words “income-contingent repayment option” don’t exactly roll off the tongue, but they sound pretty sweet to public service lawyers (i.e. prosecutors, public defenders, public advocacy attorneys) who will qualify for loan forgiveness on most federal and federally backed loans under the William Ford Direct Lending Program effective Oct. 1. Final language on the measure, which now awaits the President's signature, was roundly approved in the Senate (79-12) and House (292-97) on Friday. Access the link below for the bill text and stay tuned for further developments which greatly impact and enhance the NCBA's ongoing 4ALL initiative. http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:h2669enr.txt.pdf
