SUMMIT ON CIVIL ACCESS TO JUSTICE TARGETS UNMET LEGAL NEEDS
The ever-increasing legal needs of North Carolina’s poorest citizens garnered the undivided attention of key stakeholders in the state’s judicial system Friday when Chief Justice Sarah Parker convened the Summit on Civil Access to Justice in North Carolina. CAPACITY CROWDS AWAIT JUSTICE GINSBURG IN ASHEVILLE
Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will receive a reception befitting a member of the U.S. Supreme Court this week when the NCBA and its Women in the Profession Committee welcome her to Asheville for “The Changing Face of Justice: A View from the Bench.” Sellout crowds are expected for Thursday evening’s “Conversation with Justice Ginsburg” and Friday morning’s symposium and CLE. THERE’S MUCH TO BE SAID FOR THE ALMOST PAPERLESS LAW OFFICE

BETTY QUICK RECEIVING PROFESSIONALISM COMMISSION AWARD
NCBA Past-President Elizabeth L. “Betty” Quick has been selected as the seventh recipient of the N.C. Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism Award. The managing member of Womble Carlyle’s Winston-Salem office will be recognized Wednesday night in conjunction with the 74th annual meeting of the N.C. State Bar in Raleigh. “If you want to define professionalism, you just need a picture of Betty Quick,” said Mel Wright, executive director of the commission.
