INTERVIEW EXPANDS THEMES EXPRESSED BY GINSBURG IN ASHEVILLE
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a remarkable story to tell, as anyone who attended the NCBA’s recent “Changing Face of Justice” program in Asheville will readily attest. She entered the Harvard Law School in 1956 as one of only nine women in a class of more than 500 and overcame enormous obstacles en route to becoming only the second woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. In a recent interview with Legal Times that often mirrors her N.C. visit, Justice Ginsburg recalls the early years of her legal career, the struggles that ensued, and the enduring strength she gained from these experiences.

PENSION PROTECTION ACT OF 2006: TIME MAY BE RUNNING OUT
Estate planners along with non-profit fundraisers wonder if Congress will extend a popular option of this Act. Among other provisions, the PPA allows those 70.5 years and above tax-free IRA withdrawals up to $100,000 when making a gift to a qualified charity such as the NCBA Foundation. This week, the NCBA Foundation Endowment received its second $100,000 gift from an anonymous long-time member resulting from this tax smart, charity friendly provision. Want to know more?
