ONLINE ADS MATCH YOUR INTERESTS; “HOW’D THEY DO THAT?” Do you think it’s just a coincidence that ads continuously appear on your computer screen promoting goods and services that are “right down your alley?” If you answered yes – even if you didn’t – the article accessible via the link below provides exceptional insight into behavioral targeting, including privacy concerns related to the increasingly common practice of depositing tiny data files on personal computers to track individual surfing patterns. In a similar vein, click here for more on how Web site administrators are regulating access to their sites, barring some search engines while allowing greater access to others. http://www.law.com/jsp/legaltechnology/pubArticleLT.jsp?id=1196676275325
VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS NEEDED TO MENTOR FUTURE N.C. LAWYERS The YLD Law Students Activity Committee is seeking attorney volunteers who are willing to serve as mentors to law students who plan to practice law in North Carolina. Most of the students hail from the seven N.C. law schools; however, some students from out-of-state schools who hope to practice in this state may also participate. Through the establishment of a mentoring relationship between law students and N.C. lawyers and judges, new attorneys enter the practice of law with a better understanding of ethics, professionalism and the general realities of the noble profession they have chosen. Access the link below for more from co-chairs Kelly Jones and Ken Harris, including a link to the attorney volunteer application form. http://www.ncbar.org/news/1/2771/index.aspx
