POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of financial activities and to provide general and direct support to the membership and staff in all matters pertaining to accounting activities. The Staff Accountant is required to accomplish the duties outlined in this document as well as other duties, chores and/or tasks assigned.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, AND TRAINING:
Required: Bachelors degree in Accounting or other related
field. Proficiency on Ten Key Calculator,
spreadsheet applications, IBM Midrange Systems,
and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to
work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Proven track record in adaptability, flexibility, sound
judgment, work ethic and integrity.
Preferred: AS400 experience
EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum of three years experience in an accounting role, including responsibility for financial reporting, including all areas of general ledger preparation. Experience needed in customer service for accounts receivable /accounts payable, sales and use tax and 1099 reporting.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Must demonstrate an organizational ability and be
able to perform multi tasks to meet deadlines as
required.

A. Financial Preparation and Reporting - Responsible for monthly financial reconciliation and reporting including cash receipts, cash disbursements and all necessary journal entries. Also responsible for annual budget data entry and maintenance, chart of account maintenance, and communication with support company Executive Director to ensure financials and requested reporting meet customer’s needs for following companies:

B. Other Duties

· Sales and use tax
1. Prepare report and submit monthly NCBF & quarterly NCBA sales and
use taxes to NCDOR.
2. Prepare and submit semi-annual NCBF tax refund claim to NC
Department of Revenue.

· 1099 Reporting
1. Monthly review of accounts payable activity to maintain file
accuracy
2. Report annual 1099 activity to IRS and payees for all companies
|
|
|
|
|
· Semi-annual administrative billing for Pattern Jury Instructions.
|
|
|
· Liaison with beverage/supplies provider to keep all bar center kitchen areas at required stock level.
|
|
|
· Liaison with conference call provider & maintains pass codes for all users
|
|
|
· Liaison with Pitney Bowes for mail machine & shipping system
|
|
|
· Monthly cost collection for 5 copiers.
|
|
|
· Cost out postage to appropriate departments
|
|
|
· Bank reconciliations for the following:
WCBA, WCBF, 10th Judicial District, PJI, NCADA, NC Defense Fund
|
|
|
· Process daily deposits for WCBA, WCBF, 10th Judicial District, PJI
|
|
|
· Code bulk mail receipts for NCADA
|
|
|
· Backup for Accounts Payable duties and UPS closeout
|
