The fourth generation of the NCBA Web site is on its way, beginning with this week’s activation of the 4ALL Web site Monday afternoon.

As with previous redesign efforts, the North Carolina Bar Association is committed to providing its members and the public an expansive Web site that is user-friendly, pleasing to the eye and current in its application of cutting-edge technology.

The new 4ALL Web site readily attests to the fulfillment of these aspirations with its customized graphics, navigation, and applications.

Attorneys may now register online for what promises to be the centerpiece of the 4ALL campaign’s Participate component, the Statewide Service Day scheduled Friday, April 4.

The 4ALL Legislate area now features online registration for its grassroots lobbying effort, the NCBA Advocacy Network.

The 4ALL Donate section also has a new look, with contributions to the LANC Fund still being accepted via the secure online donation form.

In addition to greater ease in navigation, a feature that will be consistent throughout the implementation of additional components of the NCBA Web site this year, members will notice better browser performance, printability and accessibility support.

Many of the content management and backend features, as well as other enhancements over the previous architecture, may not be apparent to the layperson, but members definitely will experience a different look and feel.

John Hodgkinson, Web architect and lead Web applications developer, and Marcus McKoy, Web developer, have undertaken lead roles in the redesign project on behalf of the NCBA’s Information Technology Department.

Hodgkinson also spearheaded the NCBA’s most recent redesign project in 2004. The NCBA introduced its Web site in 1995 under the BarLINC nameplate, the acronym representing Lawyers in North Carolina. The first major redesign was completed in 2001, at which time the NCBA adopted its permanent Web address, www.ncbar.org.
