Crouch Heads Governmental Affairs

Article Date: 4/8/2008

Kim Crouch
Kimberly Crouch is the new director of governmental affairs for the North Carolina Bar Association. She joined the staff of the N.C. Bar Center in March and is already actively involved in preparation of the NCBA’s legislative agenda for the upcoming short session of the General Assembly.

Crouch comes to the NCBA from the N.C. Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, where she served the past two years as director of public affairs.

A 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, Crouch holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy and public relations from Syracuse University. She graduated magna cum laude in 1999 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.

In succeeding Doug Heron, who entered private practice at the end of February, Crouch will serve as the NCBA’s lobbyist at the state and federal level. She will work closely with the NCBA Board of Governors and its Executive Committee, Executive Director Allan Head and numerous sections, committees and departments of the NCBA.

"Kim Crouch brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to a critical position for the association," said NCBA Executive Director Allan Head. "She will quickly earn the confidence and respect of legislators."

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Crouch previously held communications and public policy positions with the Arizona Community Action Association and Martz Public Relations and Advertising of Phoenix and McCorkle Policy Consulting of Durham.

While attending law school, she held summer clerkships at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government in Atlanta and the Office of the Attorney General in Austin, Texas.

NCBA members are encouraged to contact the Office of Governmental Affairs in regard to current and future legislative initiatives. Additional information is available via the NCBA Web site – www.ncbar.org – including extensive guidelines for sponsoring legislation.

Crouch and her husband, Edward, reside in Cary.
