YLD Seeks Wills For Heroes Volunteers

Article Date: 5/13/2008

The North Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyers Division will be holding its second Wills for Heroes event in Cary on Saturday, May 31, at Wake Tech Community College's western Wake campus.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last appointments scheduled for 4 p.m. The western Wake campus is located at 3434 Kildaire Farm Road (27518) in the Stonebridge Village shopping center.

Wills for Heroes provides free wills to first responders including policemen, firefighters, and EMTs.

Officer Jonathan Finch of the Cary Police Department is the contact person for first responders to schedule an appointment and receive a questionnaire to fill out before arriving for your appointment time. Officer Finch can be reached at (919) 624-5366.

If you are willing to serve as a volunteer for this project (notaries, witnesses, childcare assistance, or a NC licensed attorney to draft wills), please contact Jacquelyn Terrell at 919-677-0561 or jterrell@ncbar.org no later than Thursday, May 27, 2008.  More information about Wills for Heroes can be found at www.willsforheroes.org.

Some 200 wills were written during the YLD's first Wills for Heroes program, conducted in Charlotte last fall in conjunction with the ABA YLD Fall Conference.
