Judge Wynn Receiving National Honor

Judge Jim Wynn | Judge Jim Wynn of the N.C. Court of Appeals, chair of the Judicial Division of the American Bar Association, will receive the 2008 Raymond Pace Alexander Award on July 30.
Wynn, who serves as the Senior Associate Judge, will receive the award at the Thurgood Marshall Awards Luncheon during the 83rd Annual Convention of the National Bar Association in Houston.
The award – given for contributions to judicial advocacy and scholarship – is named for Judge Alexander, the first African-American judge to sit on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
A Cary resident, Wynn served as a vice president of the North Carolina Bar Association in 2000-01 and chaired the NCBA’s Brown v. Board of Education Committee in 2003-04.
Excepting one year of service on the N.C. Supreme Court in 1998, Wynn has served on the Court of Appeals since 1990. He received his J.D. from Marquette University in 1979 and LL.M. from the University of Virginia in 1995.
