The Apples & Gavels Campaign is designed to encourage educators to use Law-Related Educational resources in their classrooms or to participate in any of our programs. The campaign is also geared to acknowledge our outstanding legal professionals who volunteer in the schools and community.
Every teacher who uses an LRE "person, program or publication" in their classroom or participates in a program between August 2007 and May 31, 2008 will accumulate points that will be tallied at the end of the school year. Every legal professional who volunteers in the classroom or presents are any of our programs during that time will bank service hours for the school year.
Participants and volunteers with the most points and service hours will receive an award from the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation’s Law-Related Education Department. The winning educator and their school and class, in addition to the winning legal professional will be featured in an article in the NC Bar Association's magazine, NC Lawyer, as well as on the LRE Web site.
The first time a teacher registers to request an LRE "person, program or publication," they also automatically become an LRE Education Partner, and receive a Certificate of Partnership and other benefits. Click here to become an LRE Education Partner.
The Apples & Gavels Campaign awards will be decided on June 6, 2008, and the winning educator and legal professional are notified immediately so that they are acknowledged for their contribution to law-related education by the end of the school year.
You're automatically earn points in the Apples & Gavels Campaign when you request or participate in any of the LRE "person, program or publication!"
