North Carolina Bar Association Foundaton's Law-Related Education (LRE) is growing and strengthening its role as an outreach educator in order to foster understanding of the importance of legal institutions and the rule of law. By building bridges between legal professionals, businesses, and citizens, LRE Community Connections will reinforce North Carolina’s justice system and democratic system of government, which are essential for future generations.
People: Through its statewide network of volunteer lawyers, LRE can put you in touch with an attorney in your area willing to present at your organization – just let us know the topic or ask us for suggestions, and we’ll match you up with a speaker. Click here to register to become an LRE Community Partner. If you currently are enrolled as an "LRE Community Partner", click here to request a speaker.
Programs: LRE will be offering law-related educational workshops to the public in 2008. When you sign up as a Partner you will have the opportunity to select areas of interest. You will be notified of upcoming events open to the community at that time.
Areas of Interest: · Arbitration, Mediation & Negotiation · Civic Involvement – when, where, what · Constitutional Rights & Responsibilities · Criminal Justice System · I’m 18, what are my rights? · Independent Judiciary · Naturalization Process · N.C. Legislative Process
Publications:
LRE offers a variety of law-related topics that come in all formats (video, brochure, booklets, etc.) and are available to community partners to download or order through our searchable online Publications Station.
NC Bar Association's Sections, Divisions and Committees develop new publications with the LRE Staff as well as offer workshops to educators and the community.
LRE also provides information to the public about non-NCBA publications and programs of interest through our WebLinks service, providing links to other law-related and civic education websites.
