About:

Robert C. “Bert” Kemp III is the Chief Public Defender for Pitt County in Greenville. He has served in that capacity since 2007 and joined the Public Defender’s Office in 2001. A former assistant district attorney in Pitt County, he has served two tours of duty in Iraq in conjunction with his service in the N.C. National Guard’s 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, and has earned the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Judge Advocate General Corps.
