The Filling the Justice Gap Award: Yazmeen O. Gadalla
Yazmeen O. Gadalla is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal currently employed at CAPTRUST as a corporate paralegal. Her experience as a paralegal is a culmination of years working in corporate and bankruptcy settings. Her corporate roles have involved assisting with a variety of matters, including but not limited to contract drafting, record management, assisting with the formation and dissolution of corporations, regulatory compliance, securities filings, and ad hoc projects with attorney supervision.
Through her work in bankruptcy, she focused on business and debtor matters, primarily in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings, with items such as drafting motions, notices, or other court documents, filing and interacting with state and federal courts, and preparing bankruptcy schedules for debtors.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, cum laude, from North Carolina State University in 2016. She later received her paralegal certificate from the Guilford College Paralegal Program in 2017. Yazmeen’s involvement with the North Carolina Bar Association, specifically the Paralegal Division, has spanned several roles. She currently serves as a council member and as co-chair of the Communications, Membership, and Pro Bono Committees. Previously, she was the 2022-2023 Chair of the Paralegal Division. When not working, Yazmeen enjoys spending time with family and friends.
