The NCBA encourages all members to participate in pro bono service and provides support to its members who seek to fulfill their ethical duty under Rule 6.1 to provide pro bono legal services to those unable to pay. NCBA Committees, Sections and Divisions are encouraged to review the Guidelines for NCBA Pro Bono Projects and to develop projects that facilitate member engagement with pro bono service.

To submit a pro bono project proposal, please fill out the NCBA Pro Bono Project Proposal Form. The Pro Bono Committee will serve as the NCBA’s pro bono project clearinghouse.

As required by the Guidelines for NCBA Pro Bono Projects, any NCBA sections, divisions or committees that have led Pro Bono Committee-approved pro bono projects must share a year-end report on project participants, clients served and services provided using the NCBA Pro Bono Project Year-End Reporting Form.

The Pro Bono Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association recognizes outstanding contributors to pro bono service by featuring volunteer spotlights in the NCBA Pro Bono Blog and other communications channels. Nominate pro bono program volunteers who go above and beyond in their service to their clients and communities. Nomination of diverse candidates is strongly encouraged.
