MAPP is a Dispute Resolution Section pro bono project through which volunteer mediators will provide up to 3 hours of free mediation services to parties with disputes valued at $10,000 or less. Volunteers must be certified for MSC mediation.
Legal Aid of NC staff will refer cases to volunteer mediators who agree to: contact both parties and offer mediation services; arrange for mediation at convenient time and place; provide mediation services at no charge to the parties; prepare a written settlement agreement ifsettlement is reached; and complete a closing report to LANC.
In the pilot stage of this program, MAPP can only accommodate 10 volunteers and that list is now full. If more opportunities open up, interested volunteers will be able to sign up here. Questions? Email Kim Bart Mullikin, Director of Public Service & Pro Bono Activities, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
