Mock Trial State Finalists Named

The Law-Related Education Advisory Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation presented the sixth annual Justice Iredell Middle School Mock Trial Tournament regionals on Friday, Dec. 11, at ten courthouses throughout the state.

Eight regional champions and two wildcard representatives will compete in the state finals on Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Durham County Courthouse:

The eight regional champions are River Road Middle School of Elizabeth City; Wayne School of Engineering of Goldsboro; Ligon Magnet Middle School of Raleigh; Fairgrove Middle School of Fairmont; Brown Summit Middle School of Browns Summit; Ridge Road Middle School of Charlotte; Sparta Elementary School of Sparta; and Cane Creek Middle School of Fletcher.

The wildcard qualifiers are Hendersonville Middle School of Hendersonville and Resurrection Lutheran School of Cary.

Special thanks are extended to all the clerks of court, trial administrators, court security and all involved with helping to coordinate courtrooms and accommodating participants at the regionals competition at the following hosting courthouses: Bertie, Buncombe, Chatham, Columbus, Durham, Harnett, Lenoir, Mecklenburg, Rockingham and Wilkes.
