JoAnne Parrish Smith, NCCP

JoAnne Parrish Smith, NCCP is a dedicated Paralegal at the Nash County Department of Social Services, where she has served since 2020. Specializing in juvenile matters, adult protective services, and guardianships, JoAnne provides vital support to agency attorneys and is deeply committed to safeguarding the rights of the county’s most vulnerable residents.

Beyond her work at the Agency, JoAnne is passionate about mentoring the next generation of legal professionals; she teaches aspiring paralegals at Edgecombe Community College, sharing the practical insights she has gained throughout her career.

Prior to her work in the public sector, JoAnne built a robust legal foundation at Craft & Levin, LLP, managing diverse caseloads in bankruptcy and family law. This background in high-stakes litigation and client advocacy allows her to bring a multifaceted, compassionate perspective to her current role.

A lifelong learner, JoAnne is currently pursuing a Master’s in Paralegal Studies at the George Washington University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Peirce College and an Associate’s degree from Pitt Community College.

Known for her organizational precision, technical expertise, and empathy, JoAnne ensures that cases move forward efficiently for the families she serves. Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, she enjoys reading, walking, and listening to music.
