2025 Citizen Lawyer Award: Maureen Demarest Murray
Maureen Demarest Murray is a partner at Fox Rothschild, a national law firm with more than 1000 attorneys. Based in Greensboro, she serves as Co-Chair of its national Health Law Practice Group.
Maureen focuses on the complex regulatory, strategic, business and litigation aspects of the health care industry. Clients rely on her to help navigate urgent issues involving patient care, regulatory matters, business disputes and medical staff matters. She also is skilled at litigating health care medical staff, regulatory, reimbursement and business disputes.
Beyond Fox, Maureen serves as board secretary for The Arc of Greensboro, a local non-profit dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, services, programs and education. She previously served on the North Carolina State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Commission (1986-1995), including as chair, and on the Board of Horsepower Therapeutic Learning Center (2004-2008), as well as on numerous other boards and committees.
Maureen is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and Duke University. She was previously a partner at Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, which combined with Fox in 2018, and was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2009.
