2025 Citizen Lawyer Award: Peter J. Juran
Peter Juran is a trial attorney at Blanco Tackabery & Matamoros, bringing almost forty years of litigation experience to his clients. Peter’s practice spans various areas, including employment law, construction law, and intellectual property litigation. Peter received a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Colgate University, graduating cum laude in 1983, and both an M.A. in Philosophy and a J.D. from Duke University in 1986.
Since moving to Winston-Salem in 1986 at the start of his career, Peter has always been active in community and civic organizations, generally serving on at least two civic boards. Currently, he serves on the boards of Trellis Supportive Care, where he has been a board member since 2015 and chaired the board for two years, and the UNC School of the Arts Board of Trustees, where he is board chair and advises the Chancellor on various issues. Previous leadership roles include chairing the boards of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, Leadership Winston-Salem, the Trustees of Maple Springs United Methodist Church, Piedmont Chamber Singers, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Foundation and serving on the boards of the Southeastern center for Contemporary Arts and Northwest Little League. Peter’s dedication to various organizations over the years highlights his commitment to making a positive impact in his community.
Most importantly, as this goes to press, Peter and his wife Beth are preparing to welcome twin grandchildren – their first – into the world!
