Anna-Jamieson Beck Selected as a YLD Star of the Quarter

Anna-Jamieson Beck decided to become involved with the Young Lawyers Division to make a difference in the legal community while meeting new and inspiring people along the way. Since joining, the YLD has helped make her feel at home as a new lawyer in North Carolina.
I was very excited to be part of a team when I began my role as co-chair of the Law Student Outreach Committee, so it is very encouraging and exciting to have been selected as a Star of the Quarter along with my team members Trey and Courtney.
AJ has immensely enjoyed having a hand in the work of the YLD because of the rewarding feeling that follows knowing you supported law students and helped foster connections at law schools across the state.
My advice to new YLD members is to keep showing up! You never know where a meeting may take you.
The upcoming YLD event AJ is most looking forward to is January’s Law Student Network Reception. She can’t wait to meet more law students to help them make connections and make the North Carolina legal community feel a little smaller in hopes of getting these students more excited to enter the legal profession.
When AJ isn’t practicing commercial litigation at McGuireWoods or attending YLD events, you can find her baking, reading and hanging out with her dog, S’mores!
The Young Lawyers Division is often referred to as the service arm of the NCBA because so many young lawyers are involved in a multitude of worthwhile projects and public service endeavors. YLD provides a pathway into both the legal profession and the NCBA, with countless opportunities to lead and serve. Learn about upcoming opportunities.
