Justices Ervin, Edmunds and Orr Speak at Modern Appellate Practice Program

Justices Ervin, Edmunds and OrrThe North Carolina Supreme Court now effectively only reviews cases in its discretion. Justice Robert H. Edmunds Jr. (Ret.), Justice Samuel J. Ervin IV (Ret.), and Justice Robert F. Orr (Ret.) discussed how this change affects your practice and how to make your petitions appealing with Moderator Elizabeth B. “Beth” Scherer as a part of the 2024 Appellate Practice Section Program CLE on March 8. It was a wonderful CLE that provided attendees with insight that equips attorneys to use those changes to benefit clients. Attendees also gained insight into the removal of the right to appeal based on a dissent, the matriculation of Gen Z as clerks, how the rise of artificial intelligence has significantly changed appellate practice, and more.
