Law Student Representative: Darius Alexander

2025-26 NCBA law student representative Darius Alexander is excited to do his part to promote the NCBA as much as possible, all while working alongside a great group of people who have welcomed him with open arms.

Before law school, Darius attended East Carolina University, where he majored in both philosophy and political science. During that time, he focused on mentoring youth in his community while balancing an array of gig work. He even started a scholarship!

Darius has always been interested in the intricacies of the law. His decision to attend UNC School of Law was driven by a desire to increase representation in the legal field, set an example for his local community and make a positive impact on the lives of others. At UNC, he served as vice president of the Black Law Student Association and has remained actively involved with the NCBA Young Lawyers Division.

Something I’ve learned along the way is the concept of running your race — a saying from track that emphasizes focusing on your best race at your own pace, rather than watching the lanes to your left or right. By concentrating on your progress and appreciating the moment, you’ll end up exactly where you need to be. Dwelling on the progress of others can stifle growth. Confidence is essential — and in this space, which can feel daunting, it’s important to remember that your past endeavors already prove you can succeed. Maintain that confidence, and you’ll find success and purpose.

Darius is currently pursuing opportunities in employment law, general civil litigation and trusts and estates. His goal is to build his career in North Carolina’s legal community, bringing his skills to the table while further immersing himself in the NCBA — ideally in a leadership capacity down the road.

When he’s not working toward his goals, Darius enjoys playing basketball and Jeopardy.

From the moment a student enters one of North Carolina’s seven law schools, the NCBA is there to provide services and experiences that will enhance and enrich the law school experience. Beyond the books and the bar exam, the value of networking is underscored through active membership in the NCBA Law Student Division — and it’s free.
