Outstanding Paralegal Pro Bono Service Award: Gennell Curry

Gennell Curry - Outstanding Paralegal Pro Bono Service Award 2025Ms. Curry earned her Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina Central University in Criminal Justice and earned her Master of Public Administration here at North Carolina Central University.   A N.C. State Bar Certified Paralegal at North Carolina Central University School of Law Clinical Legal Education Program and Notary Public.  She has been with the School of Law since 2015. She started as an Administrative Support Associate and transitioned to the Legal Clinic as a Paralegal in November of 2018.  She has been supporting the Clinical Directors in the areas of Intellectual Property, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Law, Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Veterans Law since 2018.  She also supports our Pro Bono Clinic in various projects, such as our Elder Law Project where our students prepare wills and advance directives for seniors, by serving as a Notary Public.

In addition to her Clinical Legal Educational duties, she is committed to the paralegal profession by regularly attending continuing legal educational courses and is actively involved in paralegal and notary associations that include the N.C. State Bar, NC Bar Association, National Notary Association and Advocates of Justice’s Paralegal Division for which she is the 2024-2025 Chair.  She also serves the community in different community projects like “Wreaths Across America” and Great Cycle Challenge, riding to help fight Children’s Cancer.  She loves spending time with her children and grandchildren.
