Paulina Webber Selected as a Law Student Division Star of the Quarter
Paulina Webber, a North Carolina Central University School of Law student and aspiring prosecuting attorney, has been selected as a Law Student Division Star of the Quarter.
Outside of NCBA involvement, Webber has gained career experience at DLA Piper, the ACLU of Arkansas and the Durham County District Attorney’s Office. She has been a member of NCCU’s Student Bar Association, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Black Law Students Association and Women’s Law Caucus. Webber recently received the Student Bar Association President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership.
I am truly grateful for this Star of the Quarter honor. This year has been so much fun serving as an NCBA Law Student Representative, so this is the perfect ending!
As an NCBA Law Student Representative, Webber combined her love for NCCU and working behind the scenes with NCBA to bring access to opportunities and experiences to NCCU students.
It is not always easy to balance, but seeing the events happen, the connections being made and the targets met makes it all worth it!
Webber describes how she found her home at NCBA as “falling into the Law Student Division by accident.” After participating in the Grab-A-Coffee program, she was encouraged by her program mentor to get involved, so she began attending events. To this day, she’s most excited for Grab-A-Coffee events, like the upcoming reception, because of the full-circle moment.
Her favorite part about being in the Law Student Division is the balance of fun and learning at community events. Webber recalls the best example of this being the Young Lawyers Division and Minorities in the Profession Committee’s Black History Month Trivia Night, where she was able to learn more about Black history, the law and even North Carolina history, all while laughing, competing and bonding with her classmates and other YLD members.
The Law Student Division has shaped me into the legal professional I am today by offering support through community on this journey. The members have shown me how you are never alone and there is always someone else who understands what you’re experiencing, and it has offered me a network that has proven to be invaluable.
Webber hopes to continue to support the group’s initiatives in the future and maintain the strong relationship between NCCU law students and NCBA.
When she isn’t building her career, you can find Webber reading, traveling and teaching children’s church.
NCBA created the Law Student Division to help students develop their legal skills, to assist them in transitioning from legal education into the legal profession and to provide positive, productive links between law students and NCBA.
