Student Scholarship Application

2024 Spring Student Scholarship Application

The Paralegal Division Student Scholarship provides an award of $750 for tuition to a North Carolina resident enrolled in a North Carolina Qualified Paralegal Studies Program as defined by the North Carolina State Bar (see list here). The scholarship will be paid directly to the school.

Complete the scholarship application below with the appropriate documentation no later than April 30, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.

Criteria:

  1. Be a North Carolina resident enrolled in a North Carolina Qualified Paralegal Studies Program as defined by the North Carolina State Bar;
  2. Be a North Carolina Bar Association Paralegal Division Student Member in good standing. Applications must be received on or before the deadline for submission of the scholarship application. Membership will be verified. Applications are available here and student membership is free.
  3. Submit a signed Certificate of Good Academic Standing from your school;
  4. Provide a Letter of Recommendation from your paralegal program advisor OR from a current or past instructor within your paralegal program; and
  5. Submit an essay on “How important is networking in the working world?  As a paralegal, what person (can be someone specific or a type of person) or groups do you think will be beneficial to connect with and why?

The North Carolina Bar Association Paralegal Division Scholarship Fund shall not discriminate against an applicant because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, height, weight, marital status, familial status or disability.

Purpose of the Paralegal Division: 

  • The promotion of the general welfare of the community and public service,
  • The advancement of the professional education and welfare of legal assistants,
  • Adherence by its members to the code of ethics and professional responsibility adopted by the Division,
  • Adherence by its members to minimum educational requirements, continuing education requirements and standards of practice adopted by the Division,
  • Provision for legal assistants to participate in the activities of the Association, and
  • Advancement of the standards of the legal profession and the administration of justice.
