Bankruptcy Lifetime Achievement Award

The Bankruptcy Section awards the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a Bankruptcy practitioner who, for not less than twenty five (25) years, has contributed to the betterment of the North Carolina Bar Association (“NCBA”) Bankruptcy Section and the profession, and who has set an aspiring example for those who follow.

Factors/Qualifications of Nominees The following factors/qualifications shall among others, be considered by the Committee in making its selection for the recipient(s) of the Award:

  • Have the highest ethical standards;
  • Has demonstrated knowledge of Bankruptcy law and practice as a practitioner, including the very best work product;
  • Is committed to zealous but respectful representation of clients and adversaries;
  • Is held in highest esteem by both the Bankruptcy bench and NCBA;
  • Has demonstrated a commitment to service to the NCBA Bankruptcy Section and Council and their community;
  • Has been a Section member and member of the NCBA but current membership in the Section and NCBA is not a prerequisite; and
  • Shall have been a licensed practicing attorney not less than 25 years.

The Award may not be awarded annually, but when it is it will be announced and award made at the annual meeting of the Bankruptcy Section or at such other time as determined by the Bankruptcy Council.
