Lawyer Referral Service

Thank you for your interest in the NCBA's Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). The LRS matches attorneys with members of the public who seek attorney referrals via the LRS call center and web-based referral requests. LRS member attorneys agree to offer an initial, 30-minute consultation for $50 for LRS-referred clients (fees beyond that may be set directly by the attorney).

Click here to review a list of current LRS practice panel/subpanel areas available for enrollment.

  • If you would like to join the LRS and are an NC-licensed attorney and current member of the North Carolina Bar Association, please click here to join the LRS. You also will need to submit the Member Certification Form below in order to complete your LRS registration.
    • MEMBERSHIP FEES: A new LRS membership fee structure will be implemented beginning July 1, 2016. Under the new fee structure, the annual LRS membership fee will be $150, which includes one broad practice panel. Additional practice panels will cost an additional $50 each. LRS members may elect to receive referrals from as many counties as they would like, for no additional fee. For any LRS-referred matters where an LRS member attorney collects $500 or more in client fees, the attorney will be required to remit 10% of the total fees collected back to the LRS (5% in SSI, SSDI and Workers’ Compensation matters).
  • If you were previously a member of the LRS and would like to reactivate your membership, please email the LRS staff at LRS@ncbar.org
  • If you are a current member of the LRS and would like to update your profile information or review or report on your cases, please click here to access the LRS Member Portal
