The Family Law Section promotes improvements in family law practice and jurisprudence through legislative changes, legal education, practice guides, pro bono legal services and mentoring programs. It provides information on legal and policy developments affecting children and families. The section also sponsors CLE programs on equitable distribution and an intensive seminar in family law in alternate years, furthering members’ knowledge in all areas of family law. Additionally, it presents a Distinguished Service Award in conjunction with its Annual Meeting and helps mold the NCBA legislative agenda for presentation to the General Assembly.
Members receive discounted CLE opportunities, access to a members-only online community forum and invitations to networking socials, panel discussions and Lunch & Learns. The section also offers practice-specific blogs, legislative and policy updates, ethics guidance and opportunities to engage in pro bono work, providing meaningful ways to grow professionally while supporting the broader legal community.
