The 2026 Citizen Lawyer Award recipients are:

  • Kayla D. Britt
  • Jason F. Hicks
  • Michael Mitchell
  • James (“Jim”) Battle Morgan Jr.

The recipients were announced by Stephanie C. Crosby, who serves as chair of the Local Bar Outreach Subcommittee, which oversees the selection of the Citizen Lawyer Award honorees.

Crosby spoke of how the recipients model the core values of the legal profession.

“These honorees exemplify the highest ideals of our profession through their leadership, service and commitment to their communities.” — Stephanie C. Crosby

The Citizen Lawyer Awards were established in 2007 to honor lawyers who, in addition to their legal or pro bono work, model the ideals of a citizen lawyer by volunteering their time for worthy community or civic causes. The awards acknowledge individuals whose commitment to volunteerism inspires others to give back and make a difference in their communities.
