Mary Gallimore Walker Receives Real Property Distinguished Service Award

The NCBA Real Property Section awarded Mary Gallimore Walker of High Point the 2026 Distinguished Service Award during the section’s Annual Meeting in Asheville on May 15, 2026.

The award was established to recognize and encourage others to emulate extraordinary service to the section, legal profession and public. The recipient goes above and beyond in business law endeavors and the official duties, mission and activities of the section.

Gallimore Walker has been an eager and invested participant through her work on the Real Property Section Council and involvement in several key active projects of the section. Her NCBA-related resume is extensive.

She spearheaded reviving the Return to the Vault program by handling all scheduling, speakers and topics. Gallimore Walker also coordinated with the NCBA CLE Department in co-planning CLE programs and scheduling and researching various issues in a creative effort for both the February Hot Topics seminar and the Annual Meeting. She actively provided information through multiple outlets regarding the FinCEN Residential Reporting Rule and arranged section blogs on NCBarBlog covering multiple topics. Gallimore Walker also co-planned and organized the Annual Meeting scholarship program for the section.

Outside of her NCBA involvement, she coordinated the NCLTA website on Enterprise Justice (AOC) with various parties.

Fellow colleague Nancy Short Ferguson had this to say about why Gallimore Walker is deserving of the Real Property Distinguished Service Award:

Mary has been actively engaged in many creative and energetic ways. She is the prototype of the young lawyer becoming involved for a productive future for the section. Mary’s energy and commitment have been extraordinary!
