New NCBF Board Members Elected

Amended NCBF bylaws were approved on May 31, 2019, with an effective date of June 22, 2019. Under the amended bylaws, the NCBF Board of Directors includes six at-large members who serve staggered three-year terms, and the three chairs of the Foundation’s standing committees, who will also serve staggered three-year terms.

In order to establish the staggered terms, the initial at-large directors will serve in pairs for terms expiring in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Each will be eligible to serve one additional three-year term.

At-large directors who will serve terms expiring in 2020 are Jim Morgan of Morgan, Herring, Morgan, Green, & Rosenblutt of High Point and Matt Wolfe of Parker Poe in Raleigh.

At-large directors who will serve terms expiring in 2021 are Stuart Dorsett of Brown Advisory in Chapel Hill and solo practitioner Evan Lewis of Washington.

At-large directors who will serve terms expiring in 2022 are Ann David of G. Phillip David & Associates of Wilmington and Robin Stinson of Bell, Davis & Pitt in Winston-Salem.

The at-large directors are so designated because they do not serve concurrently on the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors.

The chairs of the Foundation’s three standing committees – Development, Endowment and Program Oversight – will also be eligible to serve one additional three-year term. For 2019-20, these committee chairs are Robin Barefoot, Development Committee, who will serve a term expiring in 2020; Ann Anderson, Endowment Committee, who will serve a term expiring in 2021; and Heather Culp, Program Oversight Committee, who will serve a term expiring in 2022.

Seventeen members of the NCBA Board of Governors, as designated by their office and/or service on the Executive Committee or the Audit & Finance Committee, comprise the remaining membership of the NCBF Board of Directors.

LeAnn Nease Brown of Chapel Hill, who was installed on Saturday, June 22, as president of the NCBA, will also serve as president of the NCBF.
