Fall NCBA Law Student Representative Events

NCBA law student representatives have been busy hosting a variety of events at campuses across the state. Our 24 reps have been amazing spokespeople for the NCBA and Law Student Division, serving as a bridge of information between our association and their universities, making sure their peers are aware of opportunities to get plugged in to the legal profession and that students take full advantage of their free membership.

This partnership includes helping us connect law students with NCBA attorney members and leadership, as well as working with NCBA leadership to plan and promote initiatives focused on helping law students begin their legal careers and spreading the word when NCBA events are being held. Our reps get the inside track on standout programs offered by the Young Lawyers and Law Student Divisions. They also meet legal leaders from varied practice areas across the state and are often among the first chosen for leadership as young attorneys.

We know law school itself is already quite the challenge, so the fact that these stellar students find the time to immerse themselves in our efforts is proof of their hard work and commitment to the profession. We are so grateful for all that they do!

“Working with the NCBA law student representatives this semester has been such a rewarding experience,” said NCBA Law Student Outreach Co-Chair Courtney LaTourrette. “From brainstorming innovative ideas to executing impressive programs, their dedication to the NCBA continues to inspire me. In addition to these exciting events, the law student representatives have been hosting tables at their schools to boost membership and highlight the many benefits that come with an NCBA membership. We’re already looking forward to seeing what exciting projects they have in store for the spring!”

“My favorite event that we hosted this semester was the law student mental health event where we partnered with the Counseling Center and the Office of Career and Student Development at Elon Law. In addition to learning about NCBA resources, students had the chance to engage in stress-relieving activities such as pumpkin painting and mental health screenings, and they were also able to grab refreshments sponsored by the NCBA. It was a really fun and impactful event! The thing I love most about being a law student representative is the relationships I’ve had the chance to foster and build with other law student reps, young attorneys and NCBA staff. I’m thankful that I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of great people through this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen these relationships in the future!”

“The bar application is a scary step in the journey to becoming an attorney. The NCCU law student representatives partnered with the NCBA to help ease the stress with Bar Application 101. NCBA Bar Exam Committee members Caroline Maas and Tiqeece Brown joined a panel to offer their insight. It was also a treat to have 2025 bar passers serve on the panel, including Krystal Smith and Courtney LaTourrette. Students found this group extremely helpful in sharing their perspectives and experiences when completing the bar application. Several students expressed a sense of relief after having their questions answered and said they feel a bit more confident in the process.”
