This edition is packed with coverage of the NCBA Annual Meeting, which was held in Winston-Salem on June 23-24 at the Benton Convention Center. Highlights from the first in-person annual meeting in three years begin with President Clayton Morgan, whose President’s Perspective includes his installation address.

This edition also includes columns by Lisa Williford, chair of the Young Lawyers Division; Catherine Sanders Reach, director of the NCBA Center for Practice Management; and Professor Laura Graham of Wake Forest University School of Law (“Writing That Works”).

Patti Ramseur’s election as president-elect headlines our coverage of newly elected and installed leaders of the organization, followed by the election of board members and the installation of vice presidents now serving on the NCBA Board of Governors, the election and appointment of board members now serving on the NCBF Board of Directors, and recognition of new division leaders of the Paralegal Division, Senior Lawyers Division and Young Lawyers Division.

Awards coverage begins with the Legal Legends of Color, who were honored in a special ceremony on the first night of the annual meeting. On the second night, in conjunction with the installation of the new president, the H. Brent McKnight Renaissance Lawyer Award, the Distinguished Paralegal Award, Pro Bono Awards, YLD Awards and Citizen Lawyer Awards were presented, and new members of the Legal Practice Hall of Fame were inducted.

Completing coverage of this year’s annual meeting are articles devoted to the Judicial Independence Symposium and Legal Aid of North Carolina, whose 20th anniversary and leadership transition were prominently featured in this year’s event. And stay tuned for coverage in a future edition of North Carolina Lawyer regarding several new NCBF Endowment Justice Funds.
