The Zoning, Planning & Land Use Section includes attorneys and paralegals in private and local government practice who routinely handle land use, zoning, zoning litigation and environmental regulation matters. The section was established alongside the expansion of zoning and land use law as a growing specialty among bar members. Increasing real estate development in North Carolina and expanding local regulations have created opportunities for attorneys in this field. Affiliate membership is open to nonlawyers active in zoning, planning and land use law. The section also presents an Award of Excellence in conjunction with its Annual Meeting.
Members receive discounted CLE opportunities, access to a members-only online community forum and invitations to networking socials, panel discussions and Lunch & Learns. The section also offers practice-specific blogs, legislative and policy updates, ethics guidance and opportunities to engage in pro bono work, providing meaningful ways to grow professionally while supporting the broader legal community.
