M. Cabell Clay, Young Lawyers Division
Cabell Clay is an Employment and Litigation Member with Moore & Van Allen. She served as a summer associate with the firm in 2007 and as an associate from 2008-15 before becoming a partner in January 2016. She also served six months on special assignment from the firm in 2013 as an assistant district attorney in Mecklenburg County (District 26).
She is a graduate of the University of Virginia (2005) and graduated with honors from William & Mary School of Law in 2008. The honors have continued for Clay, including recognition from William & Mary as recipient of the W. Taylor Reveley III Citizen Lawyer Award and recognition from the NCBA YLD as recipient of the Younger Lawyer Pro Bono Award and the Charles F. Blanchard Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award.
Locally she has served on the Council for Children’s Rights Board of Directors since 2014 and as president in 2018-19. She is a past chair of the NCBA YLD Legal Feeding Frenzy (2012-14) and current member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Board of Directors, presently as the ABA Delegate and previously as the Young Lawyer Delegate. The Women Lawyers of Charlotte named her Woman of the Year in 2018, and in 2014 she received the Sally and Bill Van Allen Public Service Award from Moore & Van Allen.
