In this hour-long conversation, North Carolina State Bar Executive Director Peter Bolac and Associate Director and Chief Ethics Counsel Brian Oten review the State Bar’s activities in 2024, including the ethics process and recent ethics activities, and give a preview for 2025. This review covers important developments at the State Bar applicable to all lawyers — as well as ethical issues on a wide range of topics, including the ethical considerations of using artificial intelligence in a law practice — and provides a detailed explanation of newly adopted and proposed State Bar rules and ethics opinions.
