Martin Brinkley, dean of the UNC School of Law and an attorney with Smith Anderson in Raleigh, has been named a William Rand Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Brinkley has served as dean since 2015 and is a past president of the North Carolina Bar Association and Foundation.

Brian Edlin of Jordan Price Wall Gray Jones & Carlton, PLLC in Raleigh was recently appointed to the Umstead Act Unfair Competition Panel by Speaker of the House Tim Moore. Edlin will serve through June 30, 2025. The Umstead Review Panel is a body established by UNC Board of Governors as required by the Umstead Act.

Erin Illman of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Charlotte has been appointed to the Cybersecurity Legal Task Force of the American Bar Association for 2021-22. Illman serves as co-chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice Group and leads its Fintech team.


Russell Rawlings is director of external affairs and communications for the North Carolina Bar Association.
