Membership Scholarship Application

The NCBA recognizes that, although the public perceives lawyers to be among the most affluent members of society, in fact, many attorneys struggle to make ends meet, need to pay off large amounts of law school debt, or sometimes suffer from economic hardship due to the poor job market, disabilities or other factors. The NCBA wants membership in, and services from, the NCBA to be available to attorneys regardless of their ability to pay. As a result, the NCBA has established a scholarship program for membership in the NCBA.

What does the scholarship cover? Membership scholarship covers up to 50% of basic membership dues in the NCBA. A limited number of scholarships are available.

Who is eligible for a scholarship? Any attorney residing in North Carolina and licensed in good standing with any state in the United States is eligible for a membership scholarship, provided he or she can show sufficient financial need that prevents the attorney from affording the basic dues. Scholarships are not available for non-attorney affiliate membership dues. Membership scholarships are only awarded once per member.

How do I apply for a scholarship? Please fill out the form below.

What about confidentiality? Although the NCBA may publicize the fact that scholarships have been awarded, and the number of scholarships so awarded, the individual identities of scholarship applicants shall remain strictly confidential.

Questions? If you have questions about the NCBA scholarship program, please email Kawada King at [email protected] or call 919.677.0561.
